National Park Authority AGM undertaken through video conferencing for first time.

In a National Park Authority first, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority took place on Wednesday 29th July 2020 via video conferencing.

Due to the new ways of working, members were asked to put themselves forward this year along with a statement for appointment. Where there was only one member proposing themselves, no vote took place.

Cllr. Gareth Ratcliffe (Powys County Council appointed Member) was appointed for a second year (uncontested) as Chair of the Authority while new member Liz Davis (Welsh Government appointed Member) was appointed as Deputy Chair.

Other key appointments were made during the meeting, including Julian Stedman being re-elected as Chair of the Planning, Access and Rights of Way (PAROW) committee with Edwin Roderick re-elected as Deputy Chair.

Re-elected Chair of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority, Cllr. Gareth Ratcliffe said;

“It’s my honour and privilege to be reappointed as chair of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority for a second term. I have reflected on the last year and it’s safe to say it’s been unprecedented.   My future priorities are working with all our members, officers and volunteers, in delivering a National Park that benefits our residents, visitors and Wales. As we move forward, I look forward to working in partnership with our Community Councils, Local Authorities, partner organisations and National Government. The work we need to do cannot be achieved by the National Park Authority alone, but needs a collective effort from all Partners, Members, officers, staff, volunteers and communities.”

 Cllr Andrew James elected as Chair of Audit and Scrutiny, with Cllr Ann Webb as his Deputy.  Cllr Michael Jones in the position of Chair for the Sustainable Development Fund committee with Cllr Malcolm Colbran as Deputy.

There were no changes to the Policy Forum, chaired by Mr. James Marsden with Cllr. Graham Thomas fulfilling the Deputy Chair role.

Julian Atkins, CEO of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority said:

“I would like to congratulate all of the Members who have been elected/re-elected to these important roles within the Authority. Our National Park is facing changing and uncertain times and I look forward to working with all of the appointees over the next twelve months to ensure our National Park recovers and supports our communities”.
