Working as a Biodiversity Project Officer

Following the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, more than 150 governments signed a commitment to conserve biodiversity. In the UK this is delivered through Local Biodiversity Action Plans covering each local authority.

As coordinator for the plan my work is to facilitate conservation organizations, local government and individuals to work together to ensure the conservation of key habitats and species.

This involves meeting land owners, providing advice on habitat management, working with local naturalists to develop a better understanding of the local biodiversity and trying to identify and work around barriers to delivering effective conservation within the National Park.
