A new Geotours App, featuring four walking tours in the Fforest Fawr UNESCO Global Geopark, is now available to download from Google Play and the App Store. The App gives users the opportunity to explore the Geopark which covers the western half of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Fforest Fawr UNESCO Global Geopark is one of only two geoparks in Wales and 169 geoparks worldwide designated not only for their geology, but for their history, archaeology and the natural and human life within their boundaries. Fforest Fawr has over 470 million years’ worth of these stories to tell and the Geotours App captures some of the best. Discover Cribarth and Penwyllt and learn how the exploitation of rocks has shaped the landscape, Garn Goch, an Iron Age Hill Fort or Mynydd Illtud, where you’ll experience panoramic views of both the Geopark and National Park.
The Geotours are designed for families with older children and adults looking for an introduction to the Geopark, with each one taking around 2-3hours to complete. All four Fforest Fawr Geotours are available in both Welsh and English and feature spectacular aerial imagery, photography and videos by Neil Mansfield, Landscapes Uncovered and Huw James Media.

new Geotours will provide our local communities and visitors a chance to head
out on self-led tours of some of the most fascinating locations in the Fforest
Fawr Geopark. And for those who can’t visit, the App offers a chance to take a
virtual tour instead. We hope they are enjoyed by everyone who downloads the
App.’
The Geotours App was funded by Atlantic Geoparks, an EU Interreg project that Fforest Fawr participated in. The App features a further ten Atlantic Area Geoparks which together make up the European Atlantic Geotourism Route.
