World’s Oldest Female Skydiver Inspires Brecon

Last week, Dilys Price OBE, the world’s oldest female skydiver, visited Brecon and made an inspirational speech at the Active Aging event held at Brecon Leisure Centre.

Care and Repair organised the free event in partnership with Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority, Freedom Leisure, Powys Integrated Sports and it was supported by John Lewis.  The event celebrating good health, long life and happiness was aimed at older members of the community, encouraging them to remain active and providing them with opportunities on how to do so.

The event was well attended and had representatives from many organisations offering advice and free activities to older citizens.

Eight five year old, Dilys Price was the star of the event delivering a motivational speech to over eighty people about her inspirational story of becoming the world’s oldest female skydiver.  She proudly stated that her philosophy for life can be summarised in one simple motto – “When you fall off your bike, get back up and do wheelies”.

She talked about the importance of “searching for happiness” and how every morning we should “wake up and say this is a great life”.  Her remarkable story has seen her enter into the Guinness Book of World Records and travel many parts of the world.  She also set up the Touch Trust Charity that focuses on helping people with disabilities and assists them with making a connection with the world.

Bannau Brycheiniog National Park is the ultimate environment for improving physical and mental health.  The National Park has many walks available, for all abilities.
