‘Welsh in the Workplace’ Award for Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority

Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority has been presented with the ‘Welsh in the Workplace Award’ at the annual Lifelong Learning and Learn Welsh ceremony hosted by the Institute of Professional Development at Aberystwyth University held on Monday 23 October.

The award recognises employers who support their staff to learn Welsh on ‘Learn Welsh’ courses and provides an opportunity to celebrate the effort and progress of staff participation and learning.

Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority were selected as the worthy winners of the award as thirteen of the park’s staff attended ‘Learn Welsh’ courses in the Brecon area in 2016/17.  The Park encourages staff to use Welsh from the outset, both internally and with the public, and gives staff time to attend Welsh language courses in their community, and contributes to the fees of those courses.

Mel Doel, Chairman of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority said; “We are delighted to have been recognised and proud to receive this award.  The Welsh language is fundamental to our culture and heritage. I would like to thank our staff for working so hard to achieve this and am sure they will have the confidence to use it within our local communities, to visitors and within the workplace”.
