The contest on Saturday, August 25 tested participants’ minds and bodies in a 12-mile route around Llangors Lake. Teams had to solve clues along the way in a cryptic photographic competition to win £100 to donate to a charity of their choice.
The winners of this year’s Bwlch with Altitude Challenge were The Loafers from Llangynidr. Team members Mandy Edwards, Debra Lake, Kerry Graves and Nicola Williams elected to donate their £100 prize to Lupus UK – a charity supporting people suffering from the incurable immune system illness Lupus vulgaris.
Carol Williams, Tourism Growth Officer for Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority, said: “Once again this year’s Bwlch with Altitude Challenge was a resounding success and everyone involved had a great day in spectacular surroundings. I’m sure Lupus UK will be extremely grateful for the support they’ve received from the winning team.”
The Bwlch with Altitude Challenge was supported by Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority, and kindly sponsored by Beacons Farm Shop, the Welsh Venison Centre and Beacons Back Packers. Thanks also go to the New Inn, Bwlch, for providing food and drink for competitors completing the event.
