We all know that a good walk builds up an appetite for fine food – and that’s where the Abergavenny Food Walks leaflets come into their own, covering ‘Pantygelli Sugar Loaf’’ and ‘Above Llangenny’, to help visitors sample all the area has to offer. The leaflets are produced by Abergavenny and District Tourism Association in collaboration with Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority.
As well as featuring detailed maps showing the great walking routes, the brochures feature the very best pubs, inns and restaurants for those looking to ‘dine in’, while also pointing walkers in the direction of shops and markets where top quality, local produce can be sourced to make the ingredients for the perfect picnic.
The leaflets are part-funded through the National Park Authority’s Rural Alliances scheme, and look to champion locally produced food and promote vibrant communities.
The Abergavenny Food Walks leaflets are now available in Abergavenny’s Tourist Information Centre and Crickhowell Resource and Information Centre, and hungry visitors at the world famous Abergavenny Food Festival earlier this month were eager to try these new gastro-walks out for themselves.
Carol Williams, Tourism Growth Officer for Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority, said: “The new Abergavenny Food Walks marry fantastic locally produced food with great walks and some amazing views. Abergavenny is world-renowned for being the culinary capital of Wales with its annual food festival, but these new leaflets help highlight the other great restaurants and outlets offering up tasty treats nearby.”
Steve and Cherrie Chadwick, owners of The Crown Pantygelli, which features in the ‘Pantygelli Sugar Loaf’ Abergavenny Food Walks pamphlet, said: “The Crown is proud to support the walks organised in this beautiful area of the countryside. We think these new guides will be extremely useful for walkers who are in need of a good feed or picnic supplies while exploring the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.”
