Officially launched on the 7th October 2011 in time for half term holidays, the new leaflets will be made available across the Crickhowell and Black Mountains area of the National Park, so that visitors will have the information they need for a fantastic Autumn break.
Crickhowell Great Days Out series provides a comprehensive list of ideas for visitors to discover castles, ancient courts, nature reserves, shops, canals, mountains, the industrial past, places to eat and there’s even a vineyard thrown in for good measure! Not to mention a whole raft of activities to indulge in with the family including walking, fishing, cycling, riding and trekking.
Crickhowell and Black Mountain Tourism Members have been working with the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority’s Collabor8 Project and Visit Wales to produce the third series of “Great Days Out” leaflets to show visitors just how much there is to see and do in and around Crickhowell. There are now Great Days Out leaflets available for Abergavenny, Talgarth and Crickhowell, with more planned for Llandovery, Hay and Cwm Tawe (Upper Swansea Valley).
The series of leaflets has received generous support and funding from Visit Wales and the Collabor8 project funded by the ERDF Interreg IVB North West Europe Programme.
Nick Stewart, Sustainable Tourism Officer for Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority said: “The Crickhowell Great Days Out leaflets present a variety of things to do that cover a broad range of tastes and age groups. What’s different about them is that the information is presented as a suggested itinerary, with everything the visitor needs to plan a Great Day Out. By encouraging tourism businesses in and around Crickhowell and the Black Mountains area to put these six suggestions for Great Days Out on their websites we hope that visitors who are staying in the area will get more out of each day of their holiday or break. Similarly day visitors who are passing through might be encouraged to stay a little longer and explore and appreciate the area more. If we can encourage businesses to put these leaflets on their websites, when people go to search for places to visit or go on holiday they will see that Crickhowell is a great place to come, stay and experience a real sense of place. This is the third town to produce these type of leaflets and other areas like Llandovery, Cwm Tawe and Hay on Wye will follow in the months to come.”
Pat James, owner of a self catering business in Crickhowell said: “These new itineraries for Crickhowell will be extremely useful for visitors to find out just how much this area has to offer. The Black Mountains area is definitely one of the most beautiful gems of the National Park and these suggested itineraries are perfect for people who want to do something different for each day of their stay during the half term holidays or the visitor who has a day free to explore the area.”
Crickhowell Great Days Out leaflets are now available from the Crickhowell Resource and Information Centre, over 160 Crickhowell and Black Mountains Tourism businesses throughout the area or downloadable as PDFs ready for the start of half term holidays from our website www.breconbeacons.org
