Welsh Biodiversity Action

The Welsh Government is responsible for a number of legal and international obligations with regard to biodiversity conservation.

The Wales Biodiversity Partnership acts as the key government advisor on biodiversity issues and oversees biodiversity conservation in Wales.

Local Biodiversity Action is guided a series of Welsh Biodiversity Ecosystem Groups. These bring together habitat and species interests at the Wales-level to provide an integrated, informed and independent overview of biodiversity and ecosystem conservation requirements.

The Ecosystem & Species Expert Groups provide independent advice to Welsh Government, statutory authorities and others with management responsibilities that impact on biodiversity and strengthen the delivery mechanism between Wales-level Ecosystem Groups and LBAP partnerships/regional biodiversity groups.
