Grant Programmes 

Bannau Brycheiniog National Park is inviting applications from community groups and landowners who want to undertake practical and positive local nature recovery projects. 

Work from the first round of funding must be completed by 17 March 2026. 
Second round of grant funding runs until March 2027. 

Grants can cover 100% of project costs. These are capital grant programmes for the purchase of materials and goods / contractor costs. Please be aware we cannot cover day to day or routine maintenance costs. Supported by the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Landscapes, Sustainable Places Scheme.

Sites must be within the National Park boundary. 

Communities Working for Nature Recovery
Grants of up to £5,000 for community groups who want to undertake practical and positive local nature recovery projects.

Projects could, for example: 

  • enhance green spaces for wildlife 
  • create wildflower areas 
  • support community food growing initiatives 
  • tackle invasive non-native species (INNS) 
  • involve woodland management work or hedgerow creation. 
  • involve planting to reduce flood risk 

Landowners Working for Nature
Grants of up to £5,000 for landowners who want to undertake practical and positive nature recovery projects. Sites must be within the National Park boundary.

If you have a Welsh Government Customer Reference Number (CRN), your first port of call should be Ffermio Bro – please do get in touch if you are unsure.  

Projects could, for example: 

  • take place on landholdings of less than 3ha 
  • take place on Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINCs), or on campsites etc. 
  • support regenerative food growing 
  • enhance green spaces for wildlife 
  • create wildflower areas 
  • tackle invasive non-native species (INNS) 
  • involve woodland management work or hedgerow creation. 
  • involve planting to reduce flood risk 

Community Buildings and Energy Efficiency
Grants of up to £10,000 are available to support the installation of energy saving measures.   

Projects could support/contribute to, for example: 

  • Essential first steps measures such as loft insulation, LED lighting and heating controls 
  • Implementation of next steps recommendations from an existing energy audit 
  • Renewable energy installation
